Energy, Climate Change Forum and Nir Rosen

Energy, Climate Change - More War or More Solutions?
April 6, 2008 - Rancho Cordova, CA

This unprecedented community forum on the debate about where we get our energy, and at what cost. The way we answer these questions will either make us a nation at war with the world or working with the world and our communities for solutions.

The forum hosted a panel of local high level energy and defense policy makers and experts. Participants and panelists directly addressed the question of American security, bringing this issue squarely into public discourse alongside the very publicly debated, and closely linked, issues of energy and global warming. We are in a time of active public discourse about high gas prices and the kinds of energy Americans will use, and how climate change will affect us. However, discussion and decisions about American security is largely conducted at the highest levels of government beyond the watchful eye of a concerned American public, even though energy, global warming, and security are inextricably linked together.

THE PANELISTS:
1. Former Assistant U.S. Defense Secretary Philip Coyle
2. State Assemblyman Dave Jones
3. SMUD Board President Larry Carr
4. Congresswoman Doris Matsui Office, Staff representative Chris Flores
